Serious Side Effects What To Do

While complications are uncommon, it is important to know when to seek immediate medical attention.

Stop the treatment and seek urgent help if you experience:

  • Difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking

  • Swelling of the face, lips, or eyelids, or sudden redness of the skin

  • An itchy, lumpy rash or signs of an allergic reaction

If any of the above occur, contact your practitioner immediately or go straight to the nearest hospital emergency department (e.g., Alfred Hospital Emergency).

Less Serious Side Effects – What You May Notice

Some mild effects can occur after treatment and usually settle on their own. These include:

  • Injection-site bruising

  • Headache

  • Drooping of the upper eyelid

  • Injection-site tenderness or pain

  • Mild, temporary muscle weakness around the eyes (e.g., slight brow drooping)

These symptoms are usually temporary, but contact your practitioner if they persist or cause concern.
